• SYNOPSIS (english) "Taking Lives" (2004) (Title in the USA): A successful FBI profiler, Illeana Scott (Jolie), is summoned to help out Canadian law enforcement in Montreal, to hunt down a serial killer who assumes the lives and identities (hence the title) of the people he kills as he travels across North America, which forces Illeana to adjust to working in a strange city with a police team with which she doesn't really fit in with.

• Jean-Luc François • est né en 1964 en Champagne. Diplômé de l’Ecole des Beaux-arts de Troyes et de Reims en 1988 où il choisit immédiatement sa voie : la vidéo et l’animation. Il complète sa formation au CFT Gobelins en 1989 et 1990.
» Dès 1988, il est animateur pour plusieurs productions allant du vidéo clip à la série TV en passant par le film institutionnel.

»Review by Alex Henderson, All Music Guide Romantic comedies aren't something new; back in 1938, Bringing up Baby (starring Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant) was the definitive romantic comedy of its time. But the genre has evolved over the years, and so have musical tastes. These days, the soundtracks of romantic comedies are likely to have a lot of adult contemporary or pop/rock because those styles of music appeal to their target audience: younger women. But the soundtrack of Kissing Jessica Stein, a romantic comedy from 2002, is a major exception. While other romantic comedy soundtracks will emphasize artists like Celine Dion, Gloria Estefan, and Whitney Houston -- favorites in the adult contemporary market -- this CD is dominated by vocal jazz (with some traditional pre-rock pop here and there). Verve provides a few new recordings, but most of the soundtrack is devoted to older recordings by well-known vocalists like Anita O'Day ("Taking a Chance on Love"), Shirley Horn ("I Just Found out About Love"), Sarah Vaughan ("It's Crazy"), and Dinah Washington ("Teach Me Tonight"). The material is quite accessible -- nothing abstract or left of center -- and one doesn't have to be a really seasoned jazz fan to get into Ella Fitzgerald's version of "Manhattan" or Blossom Dearie's playful interpretation of "I Wish You Love." In fact, many of the jazz singers on this CD have over the years been able to appeal to pop fans who don't necessarily care for a lot of hardcore instrumental jazz; in other words, the type of listener who might love Vaughan and Fitzgerald but doesn't necessarily have a lot of John Coltrane or Art Blakey CDs in his/her collection. This is a pleasant, likable soundtrack that won't intimidate those who like their jazz singing accessible and easy to absorb.

º Good film. trés trés drôle écrit et interprétée par les 2 actices principales. Je l'ai regardé en couple. On c'est parfaitement reconnue dans quelques scènes. A ce demander si c'est pas du vécu? Un seul bémol, le dernier quart d'heure est décevant je trouve qu'il vide de son sens le sujet. On est immérgé dans leur couple pendant plus d'une heure et la fin nous laisse sur notre fin.ASTUCE:j'arrête le film a la scène de leur emménagement.

• The original title of this film is "Tenue de soiree". A very ironic title if you consider the story : two [unsuccessful folks] meet smart guy (Gerard Depardieu) with money and connections. Only problem : the money has dubious origins and the connections are a little too connected to the crime world. Let's not even talk about the sexual depravity of Mr. Smart who offers his new friends the brilliant career of prostitution.
• The film is a must not only because of the weird and hilarious story but also for the great lines (a condition of success in French theaters). Who will forget the famous comment : "When I see your gloomy face, I feel like ordering a coffin " ?
• This film has become a classic in France. It displays the same black humor as "Le pere Noel est une ordure" (you don't want me to translate this and you don't want to know what happens to Santa Claus).
• If you want to discover French cinema, you better get used to Bernard Blier's destructive humor, who spares nobody.

• John Williams is in the prime of his compositional life. His scores are more richly melodic, more sophisticated and more resourceful than they've ever been.
• He's writing with such maturity and such a clean, seemingly effortless understanding of both the text and the sub-text of a scene.
• THE TERMINAL score is another fine example. Grandly romantic while intimate, evocative of the Mancini scores of the 60s, Williams' music for THE TERMINAL is sensitive, sophisticated, and warm.
• "Buckbeak's Flight" in the 'Azkaban' score is rightly restrained, somehow denying Harry the triumph he should otherwise be entitled to.
• And what a brilliant choice -- acknowledging Harry's tragic inner life at a moment that should be uncluttered and fun. Maybe it's easy for some to say that we've seen the best of John Williams. I think they're wrong. We're in a new golden age.

• There's Something About Mary is one of the funniest movies in years, recalling the days of the Zucker-Abraham-Zucker movies, in which (often tasteless) gags were piled on at a fierce rate. The difference is that cowriters and codirectors Bobby and Peter Farrelly have also crafted a credible story line and even tossed in some genuine emotional content. The Farrelly brothers' first two movies, Dumb and Dumber and Kingpin, had some moments of uproarious raunch, but were uneven. With Mary, they've created a consistently hilarious romantic comedy, made all the funnier by the fact that you know that they know that some of their gags go way over the line.
• Cameron Diaz stars as Mary, every guy's ideal. Ben Stiller plays a high-school suitor still hung up on Mary years later; the obstacles standing between him and her include a number of psychotic suitors, a miserable little pooch, and, oh yeah, a murder charge.
